Leaves

Leaves are hands, which grasp the sun and bring it forth into the tree. In a way we all eat the sun, but imagine the ability to be the primary consumer, digestor, of its rays. Evergreen trees manage their energy in cold or arid climates by not letting their leaves go each season. But their leaves are small and thick. Broadleaf trees expend huge amounts of energy as they flower, bud, and open their wide hands each summer thin as skin and green deep as an ocean.
